A true appraisal is not going to be free, but you can typically get a Comparative Market Analysis (CMA) from real estate agents. You can also obtain free computer generated value estimates from a range of websites including Zillow, Redfin, Realtor.com

Realtors will usually come to your home and give you their opinion of your home's value for free, if you intend to sell. The websites we mentioned are all reasonable sources if you are just curious, however they are not considered to be very reliable, especially for unique homes. You may also check your County Property Appraiser website to see what their value estimate is. However, if you need an accurate estimate from someone that has done the research, you will probably have to pay for an appraisal.
